An interesting change in the way Lotto is played is the recent innovation by New York lottery to pay on Sums in their Pick 3 Lotto game. This is a departure from usual Lotto convention where the numbers used are just identifiers.

The first question that should come to mind is, "How can they do that when the occurrence of the Sums is proportional to how many there are?" eg the Sums 0 or 27 only ocurr 1 in 1000 for 000 or 999. The answer is that they pay 28 different amounts depending on the odds varying from $500 to $6.50. You can see the full payouts here New York Pick 3 or Numbers Payouts for Sums

Lotto Draws have no relationship to one another; the integers serve just as identifiers. Any prediction calculation on one history of draws for a same type game is just as irrelevant as another.
